Caltrans asphalt specs change again
Caltrans and industry met for several years to overhaul Section 39 of the Caltrans asphalt specifications, and a major revision was published on July 31, 2007. A significant revision was published in March of 2008. More meetings have been held and a new revision was published in June of 2009. CalAPA is currently gathering feedback on how the new specification is performing in the field. Watch this page for news on this and other Section 39 happenings.

Caltrans posted the updated version of the Section 39 specification (along with all other sections) on its website on June 10, 2009. The entire document is 381 pages. Ciick HERE to download a truncated version (66 pages in PDF format) that is just the section that pertains to asphalt (Section 39)

Caltrans updated its Quality Control Manual for Hot Mix Asphalt in June of 2009. Click HERE to download the latest version. Note: Use with the 2006 Amendment to the Standard Specifications.
